Alma C. Schuetz, 96, Rockton, Illinois, died at 4:15 a.m., Sunday, July 3, 2011 in Rockford Memorial Hospital. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born October 25, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Gustave and Florence (Bender) Koehler. Alma was a Captain in the regular Army Nurse Corps, serving eight tours in the Pacific Theater during WW II. She married Dr. John N. Schuetz in Chicago, Illinois on September 16, 1952. She was a member of St. Thomas of the Apostle Catholic Church in Beloit, Wisconsin and was a charter member of the Women’s Memorial on the Square in Washington, D.C. She had a zest for life, enjoying time with her family and sharing her joy with all those she met. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include son, John (Megan) Schuetz, Madison, Wisconsin; daughter Sherri (Jeff) Kulawinski, Rockton, Illinois; grandchildren Carolyn, Eric, Gregory and Peter; loving caregivers Jurga and Magda. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Robert Koehler. \r\r\n\r\r\n Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, July 7, 2011 in St. Thomas of the Apostle Catholic Church, 822 E Grand Ave, Beloit, Wisconsin with Father John Hedrick officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery, 600 West Street, Rockton, Illinois. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a scripture service at 7:30 p.m., on Wednesday, July 6. \r\r\n\r\r\n In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Thomas of the Apostle Catholic Church at the address above.
