Barbara Smith

Barbara L. Smith passed away on September 11, 2026 in St. Anne Place in Rockford, IL after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. She was born January 4, 1941 in Rockford, IL and graduated from Pecatonica High School the class of 1959.

Barb met Randy Smith and they were married in 1973 at White Pines Deer Park in Oregon, IL. Barb and Randy owned and operated the Pecatonica Veterinarian Clinic for over 45 years. Barb was well known for her kindness, generosity and love for animals, especially horses.

The family would like to send a very heartfelt Thank you to the staff at St. Anne Place and Northern Illinois Hospice for the wonderful care and love given to Mom.

Barb is survived by 2 daughters, Christine (Scott Wiedel) Shipman, Carline (Karla Murfin) Shipman, her brother Tom Harris, sister-in-law Linda Harris and numerous nieces and nephews.

Barb is predeceased by her parents, Neely and Lillian Harris, husband Randy Smith, Daughter Cori Shipman-Papini, brother Mike Harris, and stepson Luke Smith.

"We know you are finally at peace after valiantly fighting Alzheimer's. Your courage and strength will inspire us for the rest of our lives. We love you and we will miss you".

Cremation Rites to be Accorded. Celebration of life when Memorial Trees are planted will be held at a later date.
