Barbara Jean (Pinkston) Stieg, 75, of Shirland, IL passed away peacefully on August 21, 2015 with the loving care of her husband and children. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born October 4, 1939 in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas, the daughter of Henry and Ruby (Hurn) Pinkston. Graduated from Hononegah High School in Rockton, IL, Class of 1958. Her first job was at Sundstrand in Rockford, IL as a secretary. \r\r\n\r\r\n She married Edwin F. Stieg, Jr. on February 6, 1960. She had four children, the late Gary Stieg; son Terry Stieg of South Beloit, IL; daughter Vicki (Tom) DeBerry of Rockton, IL and son Todd Stieg of Shirland, IL. Her children came first, so she was a stay at home mom for many years, making countless cupcakes for bake sales and chaperoning school trips. \r\r\n\r\r\n She later worked as a bookkeeper for K Auto Parts, Rockford, IL and the retiring from the Shirland Post Office. She was a kind hearted, loving person with a great sense of humor. She enjoyed visiting with friends and family. She loved playing card games and crossword puzzles. She coached several softball teams for her children and attended many games. \r\r\n\r\r\n She had seven grandchildren Dalton Manley, Brittany Craten, Emily Stieg, twins Zachary and Olivia Stieg, Vincent Stieg and Rocco Stieg. She enjoyed attending the grandchildren’s school functions and sporting events. She has a brother Garry Pinkston, Rockford, IL and sister Sandra (Dave) Maurer, Shirland, IL. They took many trips together that she enjoyed very much. \r\r\n\r\r\n She had several sister and brother-in-laws, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and several great great nieces and nephews that she made lasting memories with. She had a saying, “There are no do overs.” So she lived life to the fullest and made family number one. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include: husband Edwin F. Stieg, Jr.; children Terry Stieg, Vicki DeBerry and Todd Stieg; friends Donna Spurlock and Amy Adair. Predeceased by her parents, son Gary Stieg and grandparents Jim and Minnie Hurn. \r\r\n\r\r\n The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice for all the loving and tender care given to Barbara. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies to be held at 12:30 pm, Wednesday, August 26, 2015 in McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk ,Rockton, IL with Pastor Dale Spurlock of United Pentecostal Church, Harvard, IL officiating. Burial in Rockton Township Cemetery. \r\r\n\r\r\n A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 am until time of funeral Wednesday.
