Bernadine Susanne “Porky” Harker, 80, of Pecatonica, IL died at 6:55 p.m., Sunday, August 12, 2018 in Mercy Health Hospital after a brief illness. Born February 5, 1938 in Pecatonica, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sheldon and Tena (Hieronimus) Rumler. Graduated from Pecatonica High School, Class of 1956 and attended Rock Valley College. Married Ray A. Harker in Pecatonica, IL on January 19, 1957, he died on September 27, 1999. She was employed as a teacher’s aide and a librarian for 21 years at Pecatonica Schools and was on the Pecatonica School Board for 11 years. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Pecatonica, IL, Pecatonica Village Board and served as the board secretary of one year, American Legion Eugene J. Barloga Post #197 Women’s Auxiliary, 11 years at Stonewall Stitches and volunteered at Rockford Memorial Hospital. Survivors include sons Bruce (Millie) Harker, Pecatonica, IL, Denny Harker, Lake Summerset, IL and Scott (Lana) Harker, Pecatonica, IL; daughter Tina (Alan) Perkins, Rockton, IL; grandchildren Erica Stoll, Tanner Harker, Brandon (Heather) Harker, Meridith (Kyle) Bergquist, Alli ( Drew) Mains, Jessi (Devin) Woods, Megan Perkins and Tyler and Shaun Bennett; great grandchildren Aryana, Aaliyah, Aubrey, Noelle, Addilynn and Brinley; sister Sandy Ritter; brother-in-law Jim Kammerer; sister-in-law Lynne Case and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and siblings Lewis, Harold, Emma, Joan, Hilda, Shirley and Barbara Jo. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, August 18, 2018 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 126 West Fifth Street, Pecatonica, IL. Burial will be in Pecatonica Cemetery. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, August 17. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home at 9:00 a.m., Saturday prior to going to the church.
