Betty V. Carter, 94, Rockton, Illinois died at 6:25 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2016 in her own home after a lengthy illness.\r\r\n\r\r\n Betty was born June 4, 1921 in Beloit, Wisconsin, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward and Goldie (Von Gueard) Taylor. Betty graduated from Hononegah High School in Rockton, Illinois. She married George A. Carter in Rockford, Illinois on May 13, 1942. Betty and George owned and operated Rockton Certified Grocery. Betty also sold real estate and was an avid painter and reader. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, loved watching and feeding her birds and loved her flowers. Betty and George enjoyed time away at their cabin in Portage, Wisconsin and their winter home in Florida. She was the Chicago Blackhawks #1 fan, never missing a game. Betty’s first concern was always her beloved family. The family would like to give a special thank you to Adetoun Jacobs of In Home Medical for all her thoughtful care and concern.\r\r\n\r\r\n She is survived by her granddaughter, Celeste (Frederick) Love. She was preceded in death by her husband, George, son Richard T. Carter and beloved great granddaughter Jordan Love in 2014.\r\r\n\r\r\n A private family service will be held at a later date.
