Betty Mareth

Betty Jane Mareth, 94, of Durand, IL. passed away peacefully on September 29 after a brief illness.

Betty was born in Starkville, CO. to John and Anna Horsman. Betty moved to Rockford after graduation when she met the love of her life, William Mareth, and married him on October 18th, 1952. They had 63 wonderful years together. She lost him on May 19th, 2016.

Betty worked hard all of her life whether she was on the farm, working at Medina, the Salvation Army, or taking care of her kids and husband. Betty was the glue that held us all together. Betty loved gardening, canning, baking, antiquing, word searches, Hallmark, and her family.

Betty is survived by her 6 children: Deborah (Robert) Hines; Kathy; William (Heidi) Mareth; Michael (Kimberlee) Mareth; Timothy (Lisa) Mareth; Charles (Susan) Mareth. 11 wonderful grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband William; infant daughter Suzanne; parents John and Anna; sisters Isabelle and Sara; brothers William and Charles.

The family wishes to thank Sherry, Yolanda, Reagan, and Jessica at Mercy Health Hospice out of Freeport. Everyone was so kind, supportive and caring of mom!
