Carl “Donald” Dahlberg, 91, Rockton, Illinois died at 9:44 a.m., Thursday, March 25, 2010 at home in Shirland Township. \r\r\n\r\r\n “Don” was born December 25, 1918 to Carl and Louise (Wallen) Dahlberg in the same house that he died. Don graduated from Rockford High School, Class of 1937. He married Carol Damerow in Plymouth Township, Wisconsin on April 3, 1943. He owned and operated a farm near Shirland, Illinois his entire life. Don was also a school bus driver for Sweet-Wilson school and a tax assessor for Shirland Township for 16 years. He developed the “Blue Roan” cattle of which he was very proud. Many people would stop and inquire about them.Don’s favorite sport was hunting when game was plentiful from 1940 – 1960. \r\r\n\r\r\n Don is survived by his wife Carol Dahlberg, Rockton, Illinois; the four children he was blessed with JoAnn Beaver, Roscoe, Illinois, Leon Dahlberg, Wonder Lake, Illinois, Arlea (Robert) Stenberg, Columbia, Tennessee and Roger Dahlberg, Shirland, Illinois; nine grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, two great-great grandchildren and 14 nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Pearl McArthur and Margaret Sjostrom. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 30, 2010 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Reverend Roland Harkleroad, pastor of Shirland United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial in Shirland Township Cemetery, Shirland, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, March 29.
