Carol Bartelt, 74, of Pecatonica, IL died March 27, 2018 in Mercy Health after a short illness. \r\n\r\nBorn December 6, 1943 in Waddams Grove, IL, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank and Wilma nee Schweder Lingbeck. Carol grew up on farms in Ogle, Stephenson and Winnebago county and attended one room schools until attending elementary school in Byron. Graduating from Durand High School Class of 1962. She married Nathan Bartelt March 2, 1962 in Rockford, IL, they later divorced.\r\n \r\nShe began working at Newell Companies when she was 16 years old, and continued working at the company until her retirement in 2003. \r\n\r\nCarol enjoyed cooking and working in her yard. She loved fresh tomatoes from the garden and always had an open heart for animals and those in need. The kitties will be okay. \r\n\r\nShe is survived by her children Ken Bartelt (spouse: Ken Wengert) and Karen Kiesling (spouse: Michael Kiesling); grandchildren Hannah and Andrew Kiesling; sisters Arlene Welsh and Marilyn Harris and brother Daryl Lingbeck (Norma Lingbeck). She is also survived by her special friend and companion Joel Buss. \r\n\r\nShe was predeceased by her parents and brother LaVerle Lingbeck.\r\n\r\nThe family wishes to thank the staff at Mercy Health for their care and kindness. Special thanks to Joel Buss. \r\n\r\nA memorial visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2018 in McCorkle Funeral Home- Pecatonica Chapel, 203 West Fifth Street. Cremation rites have been accorded. \r\n\r\nA memorial will be established.
