Rockton, Illinois
Charles V. Curttright, 68, of Rockton, IL, cherished husband & best friend, father, grandfather, animal lover, Jeep expert, and fixer of all things passed away at home unexpectedly Thursday, June 8, 2023.
Chas was born August 23, 1954 in Rockford, IL to John and Margaret Curttright. After graduating from Hononegah High School in 1972, he went on to study Architecture at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He returned home from the U of I to help take care of his family farm, which he eventually bought and farmed for many years. It was his favorite place to be.
Chas could light up a room like the sun. When not helping friends and family or spending time with loved ones, Chas could often be found hunting for antiques and Jeeps. He had a smile and kind word for everyone, and was always working on a project, often designing art pieces using recycled materials. There wasn’t a problem he couldn’t solve.
He is survived by Mindy, his wife of almost 47 years, son Vincent (Shelly) Curttright and their two sons, Jackson and Lucas, daughter Mindy (Nate) Dawson and their three children Quinn, Charles, and Samantha, as well as his mother Margaret Curttright, and sisters Melinda Woith and Margaret (William) Frye.
He is predeceased by his father John Malcolm Curttright, Jr., and his brothers John Malcolm Curttright III and Mathew Benjamin Curttright.
Family and friends are invited to join us for a Celebration of Life for Chas from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., Saturday, September 23, 2023 at the farm. Cremation Rites to be Accorded.
In lieu of flowers, do something nice for someone - offer an act of kindness, a smile, or note of encouragement, and think of Chas.
