\nCharles (Chuck) Howard Stenger was born on April 3,1950 and passed away on September 27,2022 after a long battle with Parkinsons Disease. \nHis parents, Herbert and L. Verrell (Moring) Stenger provided a loving home for Chuck, Michael and Sandra in Rockford, IL. Chuck, being the youngest, looked up to his brother and sister over the years.\nChuck graduated from West High School in 1968, attended Rock Valley College and graduated from Bradley University with a degree in Electrical Engineering. Starting at the age of 16, Chuck worked for Barber Coleman as an apprentice, continuing his employment with Barber Coleman after college. Barber Coleman eventually became GE Aviation where he was Sr. Lab Engineer. He retired on April 1, 2013.\nChuck and Barb met in 1968 and later married on October 2, 1976, at Beth Eden United Methodist Church. Beth Eden became his home church via his marriage. Our first home was in Rockford, IL, near our families and friends. Rebecca (Becky) Megan was born on December 24,1978 and followed by daughter Carrie Elizabeth on July 23, 1980. What joys were added to our lives!!\nChuck had a passion for the medical field and began to take classes towards becoming an EMT/Paramedic, outside of his "day" job. When we began thinking about moving, he researched what area would be good for volunteering as an EMT. His research led us to Rockton, IL. It was here we built and moved into our home in August 1986. It has been our home 36 years. Rockton Fire Protection District was the opportunity Chuck was looking for: however, he could not just be on as an EMT, he had to learn to become a firefighter. He joined the Dept as a volunteer Oct 1986. He had found his second "love". Chuck remained on the Rockton Fire Dept. until his was no longer able participate. There, he made many lifelong friends.\nOver the years Chuck enjoyed fishing trips with his dad and brother (although he didn't particularly care for fishing) and hunting. His father was a charter member of Kepotah Sportsman Club, where later Chuck became a member. It was a place for Chuck to hang out and play Cribbage and once again make many wonderful friends.\nHe is survived by his wife Barbara Ann (Kitchen) Stenger, daughter Rebecca M. (Stenger) Quirk,\nhusband Kevin Quirk, grandchildren Abigail Ann, Liam Braydon, and Nolan Michael Quirk, daughter Carrie Elizabeth (Stenger) Gascoigne, husband Sean Gascoigne, grandchildren Caleb Reagan and Bella Grace Gascoigne.
