It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Duke Davenport, who left this world on May 13, 2025. Born on August 22, 1939, in DeKalb, IL, Duke was the beloved son of Russell and Esther Davenport. He pursued his passion for business and finance, earning a Bachelor's degree in Finance from Northern Illinois University in 1961.

In 1967, Duke began his career at Newell Companies as a credit manager, where his dedication and leadership quickly distinguished him. Over the decades, he played a vital role in the company's success, ultimately retiring in 2002 as Senior Vice President - Treasurer. His professionalism, integrity, and keen financial acumen left a lasting impact on colleagues and the industry.

On July 31, 1964, Duke married Suzanne Finnan, beginning a loving partnership that lasted decades. Together, they built a life filled with cherished moments, shared laughter, and a deep devotion to family. Their greatest joy was raising their three children: Dana, Dan, and Matt.

Duke will be remembered for his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering dedication to his family and friends. His life was marked by his generosity, sharp wit, and the way he could light up a room with his presence.

A passionate sports fan, Duke had a deep love for the NIU Huskies, the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Bulls, and the Chicago White Sox. He had the joy of witnessing the NIU Huskies play in the Orange Bowl, the White Sox secure a World Series victory, the Bulls dominate with multiple championships, and the Packers triumph in two Super Bowls—cherished moments that brought him great excitement.
