Dana Woods

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Dana J. Woods, of Winnebago, Illinois on February 9, 2022. She was surrounded by her family in her final moments.

Dana LaMont was born on August 6, 1962. She attended Winnebago High School and excelled at math and running cross country. In 1981 she married her high school sweetheart, Larry Woods. After four years of traveling alongside Larry while he served in the army, they returned home together and welcomed two daughters in 1988 and 1991.

Dana was a very dedicated mother to her children. She accompanied her girls through numerous activities and sports. Dana could always be found participating in any type of activity her children enjoyed whether it be volunteering as a Brownie Leader, keeping stats at a softball game, or traveling to club volleyball events. Anyone who knew Dana experienced her kindness, generosity, and loving personality. She had a gift for knowing what others needed and how to make them feel comfortable.

Dana graduated with a Bachelors Degree and was very skillful in the realm of accounting; She worked as a Finance Manager taking responsibility for accounts payable, student activities and any other accounting issues. Dana's coworkers and friends would describe her as intelligent, caring, and an amazing problem solver approaching each day with a positive attitude. In her spare time Dana enjoyed nature, outdoor walks, long talks with her close friends, her dog Charlie, and spending time with her family and grandchildren. Some of her most cherished memories include reading and playing with her grandchildren. Family came first and was above all else to Dana, a value she instilled in those all around her. The hole left by her absence is impossible to fill.

Dana was predeceased by Jim Larkin (Parent), Richard LaMont (Brother), Karen LaMont (Parent).

She is survived by her husband Larry, Daughters Katie (Michael) Krantz, Emily (Cody) Arnold, and her grandchildren; Trevor and Logan Krantz, Layla, Ellie, and soon to be fifth grandchild; siblings Charles LaMont and Wayne LaMont.

A graveside ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery, Seward, IL with Pastor Joe Hicke of Seward Congregational Church officiating.
