–

Durand, Illinois

It is with both sorrow and joy that we celebrate the life of Delmont Edward Kinney, affectionately known as Del, who was born on September 6, 1930, in Durand, IL, USA, and lived a life of service and love. Sorrow, because we will miss him dearly, and joy, for Delmont's life was a testament to his compassionate, loving, inspiring, and dedicated nature that touched the hearts of many. His wish to be reunited with his beloved wife Norma again is fulfilled.

Delmont Kinney was a committed family man, an accomplished Mechanical Contractor and Home Builder, and a devoted servant of the Lord. He was married for 72 years and was blessed with five children: Susan (Bill) Janssen of Lanark, Illinois, Bonnie (Kurt) Strong of Freeport, Illinois, Dell (June) Kinney of Sebring, Florida, Michelle (Steve) Ceroni of Rock City, Illinois, and Tami (Greg) Price of Davis, Illinois, who will always remember him as a beacon of love and inspiration. His siblings, Marcia Kinney Slaton of Mesa, Arizona and Duane Kinney of Durand, Illinois, along with 13 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren also survive him. Delmont was preceded in death by his beloved wife Norma, his parents, Harlan and Ruth (Halverson) Kinney, sister Flora Kinney Brock, 1 granddaughter and 1 great grandson.

His dedication was not only evident in his 58 years of service in the pipe fabricating and home building industry, but also in his deep commitment to his faith. As a church elder, Bible study leader, and church volunteer, Delmont served his community with grace and unwavering faith. His passion for service also extended to his role as a Gideon member, where he handed out Bibles to school children and others he met. After retirement he continued in the Lord's work by helping his lifelong church, Faith Community Church of Davis, remodel and expand using his construction talents. He helped other churches too including traveling to Texas, Michigan and Honduras. Delmont's hobbies, from building things to flying airplanes, and taking trips in his motorhome, to engaging in adult coloring, dot to dot puzzles, and jig saw puzzles, showcased his boundless energy and zest for life.

Delmont Kinney's life was a testament to the power of love, faith, and service. He demonstrated that living a life dedicated to serving others, being compassionate, and loving others can create a ripple effect that positively impacts the world. As we remember Delmont, let's strive to emulate his inspiring qualities and continue his legacy of service.
