Donald Bestor

Donald LeRoy Bestor of Rockton, IL, peacefully passed away on September 5, 2023, surrounded by his loved ones. Don was born on January 5, 1940, in Beloit, WI, to Dorman Bestor and Maria (Bodi).
He married the love of his life, Mary Lou Brown in 1959 and they were blessed with three children, Anna Webb, Katherine Carothers, and Edward (Elizabeth) Bestor, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren who meant the world to him including Gavin & Jordan who Don and Mary raised and remained at home with them. Everything Don did in life revolved around the love he had for his family, he was the big man with an even bigger heart. He loved to share memories of his younger years with family.
Don inherited his father and grandfather’s work ethic. His work life included being a plumber and building maintenance/manager until his (final) retirement.
Don was an avid Cushman motor scooter collector (among many other collector items), tinkering in the garage, garage sales, family history and long car rides.
Don is survived by the love of his life, Mary, his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Charlotte Bestor and Jeanette Stogsdill. He had many nieces and nephews who loved their “Uncle Butch” dearly. He will surely be missed by his guardian pooch, Nova. Special thanks to niece Tammi Alexander.
Don was preceded in death by his parents, brother William Bestor, sister Dolores (Willis) Gritzmaker and baby sister Karen (Joseph) Cmelak, parents-in-law, Archie and Marie Brown, brothers-in-law Douglas Brown, Kenneth Brown and Ron Stogsdill.
