Dorothy M. Carson, 95, of Pecatonica, IL passed away Sunday, May 21, 2017 in Medina Nursing Home.\r\nBorn August 28, 1921 in Pecatonica, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Florence (Christen) Ferdinand. She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1939. She married A. “Gene” Carson on June 22, 1948 in Pecatonica. He passed away on April 20, 1977. She was part owner and secretary treasurer of Ferguson Agency Inc. for 39 years and secretary and treasurer of Town & Country Mutual Insurance Co, retiring in January 1986. She was a life-long member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church, where she was baptized in June 1922 and where she served for a time as financial secretary and president of the Pecatonica United Methodist Women. She also served as treasurer for Pecatonica Community School District #321, Pecatonica Historical Society, Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery Association, Rockford District United Methodist Women, Pecatonica United Methodist Women and American Legion Eugene J. Barloga Post 197 Auxiliary. Dorothy volunteered as a Pink Lady at Rockford Memorial Hospital for several years. Dorothy was a long time Cubs fan and enjoyed watching golf on television. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Northern Illinois Hospice and Medina Nursing Home staff for their tender loving care given to Dorothy.\r\nSurvivors include nieces Janice Buss Due of St Paul, MN and Linda (Lenny) Buss Deree of Dover, DE; nephew Joel M Buss of Pecatonica; several great nieces and nephews and Godchildren Douglas Clark and Mary Melancen. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister Helen Buss, in-laws Francis Buss Vernon and Frances Carson, niece Beth Carson Shippy and great niece Roxanne Due Steele.\r\nFuneral Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, May 26, 2017 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington St, Pecatonica, IL, with Reverend Katie Voigt officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held at the church at 10:00 a.m. until time of ceremonies Friday. McCorkle Funeral Home-Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, IL assisted the family.\r\nMemorials may be given to Pecatonica United Methodist Church or Pecatonica Historical Society.
