E.A. “Gene” Sisson, 95, of Rockton, Illinois, died at 10:17 p.m., Tuesday, June 25, 2013 in Beloit Memorial Hospital from a sudden illness.\r\r\n\r\r\nBorn November 28, 1917 in Bonus Township, Illinois, the son of \r\r\n\r\r\nMr. and Mrs. Vern and Flora (Curtis) Sisson. Married the former Jean A. Cain on August 22, 1941 in Caledonia, Illinois. He was employed for 38 years in marketing \r\r\n\r\r\nby Lehigh Portland Cement Company in Allentown, Pennsylvania. \r\r\n\r\r\nVeteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army as a Captain and Commander of Company “E”, 70th Infantry Division in the European Theatre. Member of the Old Stone Church, was a 32\r\r\n\r\r\nnd\r\r\n\r\r\n Degree Mason, member of the Scottish Rite, Louisville, Kentucky, Tebala Shrine, Rockford High 12 Club, lifetime member of the VFW, Rockton Walter Graham American Legion Post #332, Sons of the American Revolution and Society of the Mayflower Descendants.\r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include wife, Jean Sisson, Rockton, Illinois; daughter, Susan (Richard) Hanson, Puyallup, Washington; son, Douglas Sisson, Beloit, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Lucinda (Todd) Norton and Seth (Jill) Hanson both of Washington state; five great grandchildren, Sam, Will and Claire Norton and Blake and Clay Hanson, all of Puyallup, Washington and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Mark and Clarence Sisson and sister Vera Hage.\r\r\n\r\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Pastor Dan Herman, Old Stone Church officiating.\r\r\n\r\r\nBurial will be in Scottish Argyle Cemetery, Argyle, Illinois.\r\r\n\r\r\nVisitation will be held at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, July 1.\r\r\n\r\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Old Stone Church, 101 East Union, Rockton, IL\r\r\n\r\r\n61072.
