Elaine Mae “Wicky” Gummow of Rockton, IL entered her eternal life on December 1, 2012 at home.\r\r\n\r\r\n Elaine was born the much beloved daughter of Harry and Alfild (Christianson) Wikel on August 30, 1927 in Beloit, WI. She grew up among a wonderful group of friends, many remaining her friend until her passing. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School class of 1946. Elaine has enjoyed working on and attending every class reunion since graduation. While in high school, she decided, along with friends, to work on their tans by detasseling corn. The farm she worked on had a cute young farmer’s son named Albert Gummow and the rest was history. Albert and Elaine were married September 1, 1948 and farmed in the Rockton/Shirland area for their entire marriage. They also owned and operated Shirland Grain and Trucking Company. They were 4-H leaders for the North Main Rustlers Club for many years. Elaine was a Charter Member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. She was involved there as a Sunday school teacher and sang in the choir over the years. Elaine loved gardening, reading, and traveling with Albert to 49 states and Scandinavia twice to visit relatives. She enjoyed cooking and trying new recipes. But her very favorite over all, was time spent with family and friends. She was known in the area for a kind heart and willingness to help anyone.\r\r\n\r\r\n Left to cherish her memory are her children Sherre (Bill) Faulkner, Craig (Linda) Gummow, Brian (Jody) Gummow all of Rockton, IL and Lori (Phil Caltagerone) Gummow of Loves Park, IL; grandchildren Holly Froning, Joe Forrest, Kayla and Monica Gummow; great grandchildren Andrew and Rachel Froning, Corbin, Dalton, and Logan Langholf, Angel and Lola Forrest; Sister in law Edwina Wikel and many dear relatives and friends.
