Elaine Mary Ann Berg Wegner, 88, of Rockton, IL died on March 13, 2017 from complications of Parkinson’s Disease.\r\n\r\nBorn July 5, 1928 in Blair, WI the daughter of Alvin and Othilda (Erickson) Berg. She graduated from Blair High School in 1945 and graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Whitewater, with a Bachelor’s Degree in 1949 and a Master’s Degree in 1967. She married Richard Wegner of Whitewater in 1951.\r\n\r\nElaine had a 37-year career as a teacher of high school business courses (typing, shorthand, office practice). She worked for the districts of Seneca, Soldier’s Grove and Orfordville in Wisconsin, and taught for 30 years at Hononegah Community High School in Rockton, Illinois, where she helped launch the office careers of many young people. She was a member of the Rockton Woman’s Club, New Century Club and Hononegah Home Extension, and served on the Talcott Library Board. Elaine loved to knit and crochet towels, blankets and toys as gifts. She taught knitting and crocheting to her granddaughter Clarissa, who now crafts gloves, scarves and blankets as a side business. She taught both her grandchildren how to type during summer visits.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include her son Tobin (Merilynn); granddaughter Clarissa; grandson Nathan; sisters Alvina (Gordon) Deeren, Jeanette Horvath, Elsie (Phillip) Hanevold and Olida Brown; brother Otto (Charline) Berg and many cousins, nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Richard and a sister Janice Wandry.\r\n\r\nA drop-in celebration of life will be held from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 25, at 4405 Jennel Dr. West of Rockton. Elaine’s family appreciates the compassionate care she has received from the caring staff of Medina Nursing Center in Durand .
