Erika Weiss

Erika Weiss, 98, of Rockton, IL passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at Highview in the Woodlands.

Erika was born in Pruetzin, Germany. In 1950, Erika and her husband immigrated to Canada from Germany where their two daughters Carin (1953) and Ingrid (1959) were born. In October of 1959, Erika and her family came to the United States to be near family. They lived in Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, Michigan; East Lansing, Michigan; Port Richey, Florida and in 2013 moved to Rockton, Illinois to be closer to their daughter and her husband.

Erika was preceded in death by her husband Rudy Weiss; parents Karl and Frieda Louisa Kleinschmidt; one brother and two sisters. She is survived by daughters Carin (Charlie) Richter of Rockton, Illinois and Ingrid Weiss of Austin, Texas; and loving niece Irma (Horst) Herrmann and grand nieces and nephews.

Erika was a loving wife and mother. She was employed as a head cook for the school district in East Lansing, Michigan for over 25 years. Her hobbies included cooking , biking, walking, swimming, reading and traveling with her husband of 67 years.

A memorial ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 14, 2023 at McCorkle Funeral Home - Rockton Chapel, 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd., Rockton, IL with Reverend Dan Herman officiating. Cremation Rites were Accorded. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m., until time of service, Saturday.
