Everett O. McDermott

Everett O. McDermott, 88, Rockton, Illinois died at 9:28 p.m., Thursday, August 20, 2015 at Highview in the Woodlands.

Born October 16, 1926 in Soldiers Grove, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Homer and Ida (Goplin) McDermott. He was employed as a quality inspector for Fairbanks Morse, retiring in 1992, where he was also a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of the US Navy serving during WWII.

He was a charter member and past president of the Roscoe Lions Club, had 50 years of continuous service with the American Legion,  developed Crockett Acres in Roscoe, Illinois, donated blood for many years, enjoyed riding the stock market and traveled all over the United States.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (James) Enscoe, Las Vegas, Nevada and Patricia (Paul) Cushing, Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren, Davina (Rudy) Medina, Elisa Brown, Vanessa Kemling, Nathaniel Cubillos, Steven Puls and Jack (Jessica) Elston; great grandchildren Brendon, Alyssa, Matthew, Ethan and Jack; sisters, Belva Jones, Luella Bell and Esther Dietzman; brother, Alfred (Kay) McDermott; sister, Gladys Beyer; numerous nieces and nephews and close friends, Carolyn Crockett, Pat Washkoviak, the Terry family, Bartholomew family (Wyoming) James, Rachel, Ryan, Spencer, Elsa and Evan. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters Letha and Ruth.

Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 29, 2015 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Pastor Lisa Abb of First Congregational Church, Roscoe, Illinois officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:00 p.m. until time of service Saturday.
