Faye Helen Hilton Obituary (1927

Faye Helen Hilton, 87, of Pecatonica, Illinois, passed away peacefully surrounded by her sons and daughters and beloved dog Julie, at 9:30 am, Sunday, June 21, 2015 at Serenity Hospice House in Oregon, Illinois, after a two year battle with cancer. Faye was born September 23, 1927 to Carr and Marie (Campbell) Sarver of Pecatonica, Illinois and lived her whole life in the Pecatonica area. She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1945, married Leland Arthur Hilton on June 8th, 1946 and together they farmed and raised five children, Deborah (Hilton) High, Denise (Hilton) (Robert) Campbell, Dallas (Beth Benedetto) Hilton, David (Becky Gulden) Hilton and Doug (Tami Bicknese) Hilton; grandchildren, Teresa (Brad Nyman) High, Corey (Amy) High, Rachel (Richard) Paz, Anthony (Sabrina) Campbell, Nathan (Megan) Hilton, Keegan Hilton, Mandy (Hollis) (Ryan )Ludwig, Steven (Tara) Hilton, Kelsey (Hilton) Brown, Lisa Hilton, Stacey Wilken, Danielle (Andy) Satter, Brandon Wilken and Katie Hilton; 20 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her brother. Besides being involved in her children's activities Faye had many interests of her own. She was a genealogist, wrote and published books on the ancestry of many local families and researched and compiled several books documenting the history of several local cemeteries. She was considered an expert in genealogy research, having communication with people from all over the U.S. She was an active member and influential in the founding of both the Seward and Pecatonica Historical Societies and also a member of the Prairie View Grange and was active and involved in the Pecatonica United Methodist Church. Faye was employed as a school bus driver for several years and worked 25 years at Farm and Fleet in Freeport, Illinois. Thank you to the nursing staff on the West wing of the fourth floor at OSF who patiently and lovingly cared for "their little Faye". Faye's children would also like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Serenity Hospice House. The compassionate care and support shown to our family at this time was appreciated more than words can express. Memorial ceremonies will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, June 27, 2015 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with Reverend Katie Voigt officiating. Graveside services will be held at 9:30 a.m., Saturday at Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery prior to the memorial service. McCorkle Funeral Home-Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, Illinois assisted the family.
