George William Parsons

George William Parsons, 91, Durand, Illinois died at 7:34 a.m., Friday, July 01, 2011 in Medina Manor Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Born February 15, 1920 in Richland Center, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Will and Bessie (Cooper) Parsons. Married the former Nellie Elizabeth McCauley in Richland Center, Wisconsin on October 4, 1942. Farmed in Richland County, Wisconsin prior to moving to Durand in 1955. Owned and operated a Mueller Pinehurst milk route for several years before working at Amerock until his retirement in 1983. George started riding motorcycles in 1970. George and Nellie went on many motorcycle trips. George made many trips to Sturgis. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Survivors include daughter Elaine (Gary)Berg, Durand, Illinois; son Bill (Martha) Parsons, Rockford, Illinois; grandchildren Angie (Dan) Knowlton, Rick Parsons, Cori (Rich) Doty and Eric (Jane) Berg; great grandchildren Michael (Ashley) Craglow, Michelle Craglow, Ashlee Berg, Kayla (Danny) Thompson, Adam Berg, Ben Doty and Abby Doty; two sisters Uldene Damon and Verlie Johnson. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Nellie.

Funeral Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois with Pastor Brian Channel, of Durand United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Durand Cemetery, Durand, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Wednesday.
