Helen Myrtie Royal Doubleday, 79, Rockton, Illinois passed away at home with her husband by her side on Thursday, March 22, 2012 after a long illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Helen was born on December 17, 1932 in Petersburg, Virginia to Nathaniel and Annie (Urban) Royal. She married Leonard Doubleday on September 26, 1963 in Petersburg. She was a homemaker whose role in life was loving her family unconditionally. She loved going out dancing with Leonard on Saturday nights. She also enjoyed time (and cookies) with the grandchildren, 50’s music, her backyard birds, football games (especially the Packers and Bears battles), scary movies, The Young and the Restless and nickel slot machines. A special thank you to Beloit Regional Hospice (especially Taleesha, Nancy and Rose) and to the special neighbors who gave her so much loving care and attention. And to Leonard – Dad, thank you for being Mom’s greatest care giver. \r\r\n\r\r\n Helen is survived by her husband of 48 years, Leonard Doubleday; children, Karen (Bob) Parssinen, Roscoe, Illinois, Denise (Eric) Groene, Janesville, Wisconsin and Steve (Robin) Doubleday, Roscoe, Illinois; grandchildren Annika, Reid, April and Austin all of Roscoe, Illinois; sister Ethel (Frank) Krenicky, Petersburg, Virginia and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 31, 2012 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. till time of service Saturday.
