Iva J. Nordquist, 81, Rockford, Illinois, left this world peacefully at 6:29 a.m., Sunday, February 19, 2012 in OSF St. Anthony Medical Center after a long illness. \r\r\n\r\r\nBorn August 29, 1930 in Marseilles, Illinois to Mr. and Mrs. Alvin and Pearl (Edwards) Lowe. She married Robert Fewell of Norway, Illinois in 1948, where they farmed and had two children. \r\r\n\r\r\nThey then moved to the Roscoe area in 1954, where they farmed and had four more children. Robert died in June 1959. She moved to Stateline Road and later married Glen Nordquist in 1971 and become stepmother to his children, Erik and Kristin. She worked as a bus driver and later an accountant for many years in Beloit, Wisconsin. They moved to Appleton, Wisconsin where she worked in a day care center caring for the infants. Iva said that when she went to heaven she hoped God would let her care for the babies. She was a member of Community of Christ Church in Beloit, Wisconsin for many years. She loved the Lord, serving him in many ways. Glen died in September 1999. She resided with special companion John Rieser for 10 years. At the time of her death, she was living at Independence Village, which she loved and made many friends. A thank you to Linda Fewell of Janesville, Wisconsin for being a wonderful daughter-in-law. The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of St. Anthony Medical Center for the special and loving care she received. She tried so hard to get better, but God had a different plan. \r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include daughters, Regina (Tony) Risney, Rockford, Illinois, Katherine (Bernie) Ammon, Rockton, Illinois, Ellen (Kevin) Reece, Beloit, Wisconsin and Julia (Randy) Saunders of South Beloit, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and brother Ronald Lowe of Marseilles, Illinois. She was preceded in death by son Roger Fewell and daughter Karen Conlin; two sisters Rosa Dean and Velma Brown and six brothers, Howard, Teddy, Clarence, Alvin, James and Thomas Lowe. \r\r\n\r\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 25, 2012 in Community of Christ Church, 4242 Chippendale Drive, Beloit, Wisconsin with Pastor Gary Elrod officiating. Burial will be in Floral Lawns Memorial Gardens, South Beloit, Illinois. McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois assisted the family. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until time of service Saturday.
