Ivanelle E. L. Liphart, 94, of Pecatonica, IL died 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 21, 2017 in Bickford Senior Living surrounded by her loving family.\r\n\r\nBorn August 9, 1923 in Guttenberg, Iowa the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Reinhold and Mildred (Ennen) Pottratz. Having grown up during the depression and having to move to various places, she attended schools in Dubuque, IA, graduated 8th grade in South Dakota and attended high school in Seward, IL. Later in life she obtained her GED in 1971. She married Burton C. Liphart on March 10, 1950. She started working at National Lock and then went to work at Amerock. After Amerock, she went to work for Royal Blue Grocery, then Clover Farm Grocery and finally retiring in 1997 from Topway Foods at the age of 74. She was a member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church, where she was active in various committees and church activities, was a member of the choir for years and the community cantata. She was a life-time member of the Seward Historical Society and a life-time member of the VFW Women’s Auxiliary, was a Girl Scout Leader and was a volunteer donation collector for the Heart Association, American Lung Association and the Cancer Society. She collected antiques, refinished furniture, enjoyed canning and freezing her garden produce, loved crocheting and making items for family and friends. She collected Blue Willow dishes and Moon and Star glassware. She enjoyed trips that she took including the ones to both the East and West Coasts, Canada and a cruise to Alaska. Ivanelle’s life has been enriched by the staff and residents at Bickford Senior Living.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include daughters Annette L. Aken and Debra C. (Steve) Johnson; daughter of the heart Charlotte Hendrickson; five grandchildren; two great granddaughters and several nieces and nephews who fondly referred to her as Aunt Tootie. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two brothers Max Pottratz and Loras Pottratz, a niece and two pet dogs, Gus and Hans.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 27, 2017 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL with Reverend Katie Voigt officiating. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home-Countryman Chapel, 529 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2017. Cremation rites will be accorded with final resting place to be in Chapel Hill Cemetery, Freeport, IL.\r\n\r\nA memorial will be established.
