James William Geddes, 90, Rockton, Illinois departed this life on March 9, 2016, after living his entire life in rural Rockton. \r\r\n\r\r\n Jim was born March 21, 1925, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph and Mary (Bates) Geddes. He attended Conklin School, graduated from Hononegah High School, and married Evalyn June Davis in 1946. They celebrated 65 years of marriage and raised three children on the farm in the Rockton area. Jim was a farmer his entire life and took good care of the land and animals. He made the countryside a more beautiful place by always picking up the trash when he walked until his last weeks of life. He taught his children and grandchildren to love the land, nature, and all animals. Jim and June spent many years riding horses and camping all over the United States. They enjoyed dances with friends. He was a member of Rockton United Methodist Church for over 60 years and also attended the Shirland Congregational Church. Jim received the 50 year pin as a proud Mason. Dad, with very little sight and hearing, you showed us how to accept things we cannot change. May you rest in peace and see ALL and hear ALL again. Special thanks to Mary McClammer and the LeRoy Gleasman family for special care given to Jim for many years.\r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include children, Judy Cunningham, Janet (Alan) Bridgeland, and Jerry (Vicki) Geddes; grandchildren, Aaron (Mackenzie) Bridgeland, Brett (Kari) Bridgeland, Hannah Bridgeland, Charles Cunningham, Hillary (Andy) Fleming, and Leigh (Joanna) Geddes; nine great grandchildren and his beloved dog Spot. He was preceded in death by wife, parents, infant son Jamie Geddes, infant grandson Bradlyn Cunningham, brother Don and his wife Margaret Geddes. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at Rockton United Methodist Church, 102 W. Chapel, Rockton, Illinois. Burial will be in the Phillips Cemetery, Rockton, Illinois. A visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. till time of service Wednesday.
