James “Jim” C. Wise, 68, Rockford, IL, died at 6:04 a.m., Tuesday, June 5, 2018 at his home after a courageous fight with cancer. A special thank you to his friends for their support and prayers.\r\n\r\nBorn October 8, 1949 in Beloit, WI, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clifford and Doris (Haas) Wise. He grew up in Durand, IL. Graduated from Durand High School and attended Rock Valley College. Married the former Linda Mulvain on August 3, 1968 in Durand, IL. They moved from Durand to his farm in Rockford Township in 1989. He was past General Manager Elco Textron Tooling Division and General Manager Elco Textron Heat Treat, Plating and Coatings Division, retiring in 2006. He returned to the workforce in 2007 as Director of Production Technology at Semblex Corporation in Elmhurst, IL, retiring again in 2015. Jim had a passion for restoring and collecting antique tractors and farm machinery. He had his tractors at many tractor shows as far away as Florida, on calendars, loaned to museums and featured in magazines. He was a true do-it-yourself kind of person. Not much he couldn’t do, design or fix. He loved his farm where he could spend time outside building and fixing things, doing farming chores and sharing quality time with his family when they did projects together and just sitting around the outside fire pit in the evening and visiting. He could never get enough of being around his family and friends. He always enjoyed working (even at his job) and was a true people person. He will be greatly missed by family and friends. He also loved his boat, snowmobile and riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed going on family vacations together. His wife and kids were very important to him.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his loving wife, Linda Wise; son Jerry (Bev) Wise; daughter Gina (Mike) Zollar; granddaughter Nicole (Melvin) Zollar-Fernandez; grandson Justin (Nicole Kaminski) Zollar; granddaughter Katelyn Wise; brother Terry (Carolyn) Wise and sister-in-law Vicki Kocher.
