James E. Kammerer, 88, of Pecatonica, IL died at 1:35 a.m., Tuesday, February 19, 2019 in Presence St. Anne Center in Rockford, IL surrounded by his loving family after a brief illness.\r\n\r\nBorn December 15, 1930 in Pecatonica, IL, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Warren and Lois (Campbell) Kammerer. Married the former Joan M. Rumler in Pecatonica, IL on May 11, 1957 and she preceded him in death on November 27, 1993. He was employed as a crew leader in the Line Dept. by Commonwealth Edison in Rockford for 33 years. Veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving from 1951 to 1954 in the US Navy. He attended Pecatonica United Methodist Church. He was a life member of Pecatonica American Legion Eugene J. Barloga Post #197 and a past commander; life member of Pecatonica VFW Donald Lorraine Tarbet Post #8416 and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers IBEW Union. He enjoyed Naval reunions, playing euchre and spending time with family and friends. He graduated from Blake Grade School and Pecatonica High School, Class of 1949. \r\n\r\nSurvivors include daughter Patricia (Russell) Mapes, Roscoe, IL; sons Peter (Kimberly) Kammerer, Pecatonica, IL and Joseph (Heidi) Kammerer, West Plains, MO; grandchildren Emily, Elissa, Zach, Andrew, Elizabeth and Isaac, three great grandchildren and one on the way; sisters Nellie Runne, Joan Lindquist and Phyllis Peterson all of Rockford, IL; brother Warren (Virginia) Kammerer, St. Charles, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, sisters Katherine Bradley, Marjorie Castree; and brother Wayne.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 in Pecatonica United Methodist Church, 528 Washington Street, Pecatonica, IL with Pastor Mark Gilmore officiating. Burial will be in Pecatonica Cemetery. A visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, IL from 4:00 to7:00 p.m., Friday, February 22.\r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Pecatonica American Legion Eugene J.
