James L. "Jim" Rous, 76, Rockton, Illinois, died at 9:23 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 in his home surrounded by his family. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born June 29, 1938 in Hancock, Wisconsin, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Myrle V. and Dorothy A. (Gustin) Rous. Married the former Virginia A. Chamberlain in Loves Park, Illinois on June 29, 1963. He was employed by Woodward Governor in Loves Park, Illinois as a development engineer, retiring in 1993. Veteran of the US Army, serving during peace time. Attended Heartland Church. Member of Kapota Sportsman Club. After retiring from Woodward Governor, he was in partnership with Dean Morhing making beautiful cabinetry. He enjoyed trap shooting and having breakfast with the guys over the years. Worked with horses for many years. Graduated from Tri County High School, Plainfield, Wisconsin, Class of 1956. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Heartland Hospice and the private care givers for their tender loving care given to Jim and the family. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife, Virginia Rous, Rockton, Illinois; sister, Karen (William) Aughenbaugh, Rockford, Illinois and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Jerry.\r\r\n\r\r\n An informal celebration of Jim’s life will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Monday, September 29, 2014 at Williams Tree Farm, 4661 Yale Bridge Road, Rockton, Illinois. Cremation rites were accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois assisted the family. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial will be established.
