Janice “Jan” Modrsohn, 61 of Rockton, Illinois, passed away peacefully in her home following a brief illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Jan was born to Willis and Opal (Hensley) Eaton on April 5, 1948 in Bremerton, Washington. She was born to a military family so she spent her formative years in Japan, Rhode Island, California, Tennessee, and to Beloit, Wisconsin before settling down and falling in love with Rockton, Illinois where she spent the remainder of her life. Jan took great pride in her elected position as the Village Clerk of Rockton, Illinois. A career she loved and enjoyed so much. \r\r\n\r\r\n Jan is survived by her three children; Shawn Modersohn of Washington, Amber (Matthew) Beard of Caledonia, Illinois and Brianna Modersohn of Rockton, Illinois; sister Marie Eaton of California; two grandchildren Evan and Alex Modersohn and several nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her parents and brother Jim Eaton. \r\r\n\r\r\n Her family would like to thank Cancer Treatment Centers of America, Beloit Regional Hospice and all her cherished friends for their thoughtful and caring support given to Jan throughout her illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 30, 2009 in McCorkle Funeral Home 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, Illinois with Rev Daniel J. Herman, pastor of Old Stone Church officiating. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Wisconsin. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5:00 pm to 8:00 p.m. Friday, May 29. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial is being established.
