Jean Lane

–

Winnebago, Illinois

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Jean Carol Lane, a dedicated and resilient woman, who departed this world on December 24, 2025. Born on February 23, 1943, in Rockford, IL, Jean's journey of life was marked by her wit and generosity. Her commitment to her family, work, and community was unparalleled. Jean was a long-time resident of Winnebago, Illinois, and her presence will be sorely missed by all who knew her.

Jean graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1961 before marrying Jackie Lane on October 9, 1961. She built her career as a machinist in the manufacturing industry, retiring in 2004 from Atwood. Jean's work ethic was remarkable and she was admired by her colleagues for her resilience and dedication. In her retirement, Jean discovered new joys and pursued them with zest. She was an avid participant in the activities of the Pec Play House, loved watching game shows, and took great pleasure in caring for her beloved cat, Sebastian. She supported her son and daughter in their post high school careers; Leonard in the military and Tammy in nursing. She took immense pride supporting all her grandchildren in their activities. Many will remember the joyful times Jean and her late husband, Jackie, spent traveling and engaging in various activities in their younger years.

Jean is survived by her daughter, Tammy (Jim) Boyce and son, Leonard (Kiliemah) Lane; her grandchildren, Katelyn (Trevor) Moore, Taylor (Kaden) Boyce, Maxton Lane, Liberty Lane, Meyleia Aviles, and Dylan Boyce; her brother, Jerry Schwartz and sister, Barbara Matteson. She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Evelyn Schwartz; her brother, Dennis Schwartz; and her loving husband, Jackie Lane.

Jean's life was a testament to her strength and spirit. We invite you to share your memories of Jean, upload photos, and celebrate her life on the memorial page. Her legacy will live on in the stories we share and the memories we cherish.

The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Rudolph and all the staff at MercyHealth- Winnebago for all their tender love and care given to mom.
