Jean Swale, 93, of Durand, IL died at 7:49 a.m., Thursday, September 3, 2020 in her home. \n\nShe was born June 13, 1927 in Rockford, IL daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harry s. and Doris M. (Knight) Lewis. She graduated from Stillman Valley High School, Class of 1945 and Northern Illinois University with Bachelor's Degree in Education. Jean taught for a couple of years at the Durand School District. She married Bill Swale in Stillman Valley, IL August 11, 1951. Member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the women's guild and various committees.Jean enjoyed gardening, cooking, preparing meals, playing bridge, lunches with special friends and spending time with her family.\n\nSurvivors include: daughters Ellen (Tom) Rice of Lena, IL, Marilyn (Terry) Janes of Byron, IL, Julie (Brad) Lucas of Davidson, NC.; grandchildren Mike ( Michelle) Gann, Amy Gann, Jason Janes, Josh (Amanda) Janes, Jordan (Mickie) Janes, Dave (Ashley) Lucas, Jill Lucas; great grandchildren Colton Gann, Kenzie (Lucas) Rollinger, Timmy Adams, Christopher Adams, Adeleine Janes; numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her parents, husband, brother Harry Lewis, grandson in law Tim Adams.\n\nCremation Rites to be Accorded, with burial of cremains to be in Durand Township Cemetery.
