Jo Anne Dornink, 82 of Freeport, IL died at 5:28 p.m., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in KSB Hospital, Dixon after a brief illness. \r\n\r\nShe was born May 29, 1936 in Freeport, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert and Amelia (Anders) Neely of Pecatonica. She grew up in the Seward and Pecatonica communities on the family farms, was a member of the Seward Determination 4-H club. \r\nShe graduated from Pecatonica High School class of 1954, where she made honor roll, was a member of Future Homemakers of America and was FFA Queen. In 1955, she enrolled at Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington and later attended the University of Illinois, Champaign. After college, Jo was a secretary for Dr. Hugh Johnson until she married Gordon C. Dornink of Dakota, IL. They were married in Freeport, IL on August 29, 1960\r\nShe enjoyed working with the local 4-H group preparing and assisting her sons with their projects, activities and fair competitions. She was a member of the P.T.A., loved to paint and travel during her retirement. She enjoyed the simple pleasures in life by chatting with friends and family, attending the many get-togethers/holiday events with relatives, going to church and attending her son’s school events and sports .\r\nShe was employed as a physical therapist by Wesley Willows in Rockford, IL and Park View Nursing Home in Freeport, IL where she retired in 2003. She is a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Pecatonica, IL \r\nSurvivors include sons Mike (Kim) Dornink of Elburn, IL, Rick Dornink of Winnebago, IL; grandchildren Ryan, Matt, Josh, Tyler, Brock, Brynn; Daughter-in-Law Lynette Dornink; sisters Cleo Johnson, Donna Pohill; sister in law Sally Neely; numerous nieces and nephews. \r\nShe is predeceased by her parents, husband, son Jeff Dornink and brother Philip Neely. A funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 1, 2018 in St. John’s Lutheran Church, 1301 Jackson St., Pecatonica, IL with Reverend Terry Theiss officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery in Pecatonica, IL. \r\nA visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. to time of ceremony Thursday.\r\nSpecial thanks to the staff, associates and residents of Pinecrest Retirement Community in Mt.
