JoAnn Polito, 74 of South Beloit, IL died at 11:25 pm Wednesday February 7, 2018 in Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, IL after a brief illness. \r\n\r\nShe was born April 18, 1943 in Palatine, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John and Regina (Gerhardt) Bastian. She married Joseph L. Polito in Palatine, IL on April 1, 1967. JoAnn graduated from Rockford College with her Bachelors, then from University of Illinois Champaign with her Masters of Science in Early Childhood Education. JoAnn taught in Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin for over 40 years. She taught High School Latin in Beloit Memorial High School for over 20 years retiring in 2011. She also taught religious education at both St. Peter Catholic Church and Our Lady of Assumption. \r\n\r\nMember of Our Lady of Assumption Church; Chaired the Foreign Language Dept at Beloit Memorial High School; Active member of Junior Classical League of Wisconsin and National Junior Classical League. \r\n\r\nSurvivors include: daughters Gina (Jimi) Jahn, Christina (Mark) Fylling, Elizabeth (Randy) Riley; grandchildren: Lucia and Monika Jahn, Roman Riley, Rex Riley, Paige Carroll, Joseph and Everly Fylling; sister Regina Kroll; brother Frank Dumelle; sister Caryl (Tom) Jonas; numerous nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nShe is predeceased by her parents, husband, sisters Anne Moe, Catherine Chapmen; brothers John, Nick and Ricahrd Bastian. \r\n\r\nFuneral Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am Friday February 16, 2018 in Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church 2222 Shopiere Road Beloit, WI with Father Mike Resop officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery. \r\n\r\nA visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home – Rockton Chapel 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, IL from 4:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers memorials may be given to : St. Jude Children’s Hospital 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
