John Robert Blassingham, 47 of Pecatonica, Illinois, died 8:45 pm, Saturday, November 1, 2014 in his home surrounded by his loving family.\r\r\n\r\r\nBorn November 2, 1966 in Oakland, California, the son of Miles Raymond Blassingham and Mary Earl Kielman. Married Sally E. Deppe in Rockford, Illinois on May 8, 1993. Employed as Print Manager by Meridian for 27 years. Member of Pecatonica United Methodist Church, Rockford Masonic Lodge #102, A.W. Rawson Lodge #145, Past Master of Loves Park Lodge #1145, Freeport Scottish Rite, Tebala Shrine, Tebala Klowns, Director’s Staff, Royal Order of Jesters, Sword of Bunker Hill, Trustee of Sumner Park Board, Pecatonica Sports Association, assistant coach of PecDu High School Baseball Team. Graduated from Dakota High School, Class of ’85. John was an avid fan of the Chicago White Sox, Auburn Tigers and all of the Pecatonica High School teams. Family was most important and he enjoyed spending time with everyone, but he had a special connection with his late brother-in-law Jim, who suffered from Cerebral Palsy. John’s kindness and support to Jim defined him and is a trademark of his generous personality and caring nature. John was always the first in line to help someone in need. Throughout the years John dedicated countless hours \r\r\n\r\r\nto \r\r\n\r\r\nthe community of Pecatonica working on community projects as well as coaching its youth based programs. He loved being outdoors and had a passion for golf, fishing and gardening.\r\r\n\r\r\nSurvivors include wife, Sally of Pecatonica; children, Robert and Nolan; father, Miles (Donna) Blassingham of Pageland, South Carolina; mother, Mary Kielman of Pecatonica; brother Don (Renee) Blassingham of Pecatonica and Miles (Paula) Blassingham of Rockford; mother-in-law Connie (Jack) Teasdale of Pecatonica; brother-in-law Rick (Jennifer) Deppe of Rockford; sister-in-law Carrie (Craig) Lund of Durand; brother-in-law Greg (Paula) Deppe of Pecatonica; brother-in-law Ted (Hilary) Deppe of Pecatonica; sister-in-law Beth (Mark) Schroeder of Rockton, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Preceded in death by sister Pam and brother-in-law James Deppe.\r\r\n\r\r\nFuneral Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 8, 2014 in New Life Bible Church, corner of Hoisington Road and Hwy 20, Winnebago, Illinois with Rev. Katie Voigt of Pecatonica United Methodist Church officiating. Burial in Pecatonica Cemetery. Visitation will be held in the Pecatonica Middle School, 1200 Main Street from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Friday, November 7, 2014. Masonic Rites will be held at 8:00 pm Friday. McCorkle Funeral Home-Pecatonica Chapel assisted the family.\r\r\n\r\r\nMemorial to be established at a later date.
