Joyce E. Johnson, 78 of Durand, IL died 3:59 a.m., Thursday, June 25, 2020 in Javon Bea Health Center Rockton Campus after a lengthy illness. \n\nShe was born June 5, 1942 in Beloit, WI, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie and Laona (Lange) Meyers. Graduated Beloit Memorial High School class of 1960. Joyce married Jerry F. Johnson in St. Jude Catholic Church in Beloit, WI on June 1, 1963. She worked at Durand High School in the cafeteria for many years and helped Jerry operate the family farm. \n\nShe was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church where she served the St. Anne's Sodality Society and sang in the Choir. Joyce was den mother for the Cub Scouts and a member of the Laona Neighbor Club. \n\nSurvivors include husband Jerry; Sons Robert (Kerrie Klitzing) Johnson, Duane (Ami) Johnson; grandchildren Michael (Joanna) Dempsey, Christopher (Alyssa) Johnson, Dainiel (Kaitlin) Johnson, Erik Johnson, Sloane Johnson; five Great grandchildren; Sister Mary Jane (Michael) Nyre; numerous nieces and nephews. \n\nPredeceased by her parents and three brothers. \n\nFuneral Mass of the Christian Burial observing social distancing and requiring masks to be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, July 2, 2020 in St. Mary Catholic Church in Durand, IL. Burial will be in St. Catholic Cemetery. A visitation, observing social distancing and requiring masks, will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home - Durand Chapel, 101 Main St Durand, IL, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday.
