Karen Reddy

Karen Elizabeth Reddy, 84, of Pecatonica, IL died at 1:42 a.m. Wednesday, March 22, 2023 at OSF Saint Anthony Hospital after a short illness. Karen was born July 10, 1938 to Mr. and Mrs. Carl and Alice (McDonald) Holland in Rockford, IL. She graduated from Durand High School Class of 1956. She met Richard Reddy in 1955 at the Theodorff Barn Dance. They were married on June 22, 1957 and made their home in Pecatonica. Karen was a homemaker who worked various jobs over the years as a bus driver for Pecatonica Schools, KC Soil and Blue Cross.

Karen was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Women's Guild and the VFW Auxiliary in Pecatonica. Karen's door was always open. Visitors were met with a welcoming smile, a cup of coffee, and a seat at the kitchen table where the issues of the day were discussed and laughter was plentiful. She enjoyed golf, gardening, any card game, and spending time with her family and friends.

Karen found joy in her family. She especially enjoyed being "Grams" to her grandchildren and their friends. Survivors include daughters Bridget Reddy of Pecatonica, Betsy (David) Pierson of Elgin, IL and son Kevin (Jacqui) Reddy of Pleasant Hill, IA; grandchildren Jared, John and Mary Reddy and Dru and Maddie Pierson and several special nieces and nephews. Preceded by parents, husband Rich, and infant granddaughter, Katherine Alice Reddy.

A Funeral Mass of the Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 27, 2023 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 126 W. 5th Street, Pecatonica, IL with Rev. Dennis M. Morrissy officiating. Prayers will be held prior at 9:30 a.m. at McCorkle Funeral Home - Pecatonica Chapel, 203 W. 5th Street, Pecatonica, IL. Burial to be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Pecatonica, IL. A visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sunday, March 26, 2023 at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the Pecatonica Food Pantry, Pecatonica Ambulance/Fire Department, or the Rockford Rescue Mission.
