Kenneth Earl Blair, 85, of Roscoe, IL died at 9:40 p.m., Monday, October 10, 2022 in his home surrounded by his loving sons. Ken was born on August 20, 1937 in Paintsville, KY the son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth & Virginia (Dickson) Blair. He graduated from Vane Lear High School class of 1954. Ken served in the U.S. Army from 1955 to 1959 during peacetime. He married Elizabeth Meade in 1959 in McHenry, IL. He then married Dawn Edwards on December 7, 1985 in Lake in the Hills, IL. He worked at Union Special in Huntley, IL for most of his working career. He was a foreman there for over 29 years. Dawn and Ken moved to Tennessee where they owned and operated a gas station - restaurant for about 8 years. They returned to Illinois because they missed their family. Ken was in involved in Hospice for a number years after retiring. He facilitated a grief support group for a number of years. Ken enjoyed driving cars, playing golf, riding snowmobiles, going to garage sales, spending time with family and friends. Ken laughed all the time, never knew a stranger, would help everyone he could and would be the first to share a joke. Survivors include: sons Kenneth and David Blair; grandchildren Joshua and Michelle; great grandchildren Mason, Layla, Maverick and Charlotte; 2 sisters Jean and Marlene; numerous nieces, nephews and many friends. Predeceased by parents and the love of his life Dawn. A funeral ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2022 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel 767 N. Blackhawk Blvd. Rockton, IL with Chaplain Ken Lawson of Unity Hospice. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1:30 p.m., until time of Ceremony Friday. Cremation Rites to be Accorded with final resting place to be Floral Lawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers a memorial is to be established.
