Kenneth L Kothe, 75, of Rockton, died January 8, 2011 at Highview in the Woodlands, after a courageous battle with Parkinsons. Born October 3, 1935, in Rockford, IL, the son of Lawrence and Beda (Grenberg) Kothe. Ken was a graduate of Hononegah High School and lived his entire life in Rockton. \r\r\n\r\r\n Ken served his country in the United States Army from 1955- 1958. He married Connie Bloom on September 23, 1960. They had two children, Jeffrey Kothe of Cave Creek, AZ and Cherie (Jon) Reese of Loves Park, IL. \r\r\n\r\r\n Ken started Ken Kothe Heating & Electric in 1967, and also was a contractor, building over 200 homes in the Rockton area. He held a real estate license and sold real estate part time. He retired from his business in 2001. \r\r\n\r\r\n Ken lived on the river for many years, where he enjoyed his pontoon boat and fishing. He had a passion for cars. He owned many convertibles, one of his favorites was a 1949 Jeepster. Those that knew Ken knew of his love for food. He would take a carload of friends all the way to Milwaukee for ice cream cones! \r\r\n\r\r\n Ken is lovingly survived by his children, brother Russell Kothe of Rockton, nieces and nephews, and best friend of 67 years, Jim Carroll. He was predeceased by his wife Connie in 1980, his parents, and brother Dennis. \r\r\n\r\r\n The family wishes to extend their gratitude to those who cared for Ken. His caregiver Lena, who cared for Ken like he was family. The staff at Highview in the Woodlands for their compassionate care, and Transitions Hospice for their loving care and support. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00am, Friday, January 14, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, with Rev Larry Pauley officiating. Burial will be in Rockton Township Cemetery, 600 West Street, Rockton, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 5pm–8pm Thursday January 13th. \r\r\n\r\r\n In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Wisconsin Parkinson Association.
