Larry Kothe

Lawrence "Larry" Kothe age 59, of Rockton, IL died Wednesday, May 22, 2024, at Swedish American Hospital in Rockford, IL. Larry was born in Rockford, IL on August 11, 1964, the son of Dennis Kothe and Sally Baremore. Larry was a proud father of his three children and lived a simple life. He worked as a manager at Woodman’s for 30 years before retiring.

Larry was an avid sports fan. He especially liked watching the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Cubs, Blackhawks, and the Wisconsin Badgers. Some may call him “Lucky Larry” as he won season Packers tickets through a radio promotion. He got to enjoy the tickets for many years as he won the tickets back when the Packers played half their games in Milwaukee. Larry would watch as many of his kid's games and practices as possible, and he enjoyed helping prepare the football field for his son’s games.

Larry also enjoyed his diet pop, reading the newspaper, and car rides. His children remember him often taking them on drives to enjoy the scenic route. They smile when thinking of his dad jokes, his love for Halloween, and remembering his attempts at planting pumpkins.

Larry is survived by his three children, Tyler (Kelsey Johnson), Dylan (Alayna Waite), and Mackenzie (Garrison Lee). Larry was preceded in death by his Dad, Dennis Kothe; his Mom, Sally Baremore; and Stepdad, George Baremore.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 8th from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the South Beloit City Park under the Legion Pavilion. Memorials in memory of Larry can be made at any animal shelter in the area.
