Lorin J. DiGvonni, 83, Winnebago, Illinois, passed away at 1:37 p.m., Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in Provena Cor Mariae Center in Rockford, Illinois after a year-long battle with cancer. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born February 24, 1927 in Douglas, Wyoming, the son of Frank Sr. and Marion (Larson) DiGvonni. Lifelong farmer in the Winnebago area. He loved raising hogs and cattle. Lorin loved the farm life and always promoted the 4-H Foundation and local community schools scholarship programs. Lorin will be remembered as a joyful, carefree person who always made you feel welcome. He always had a story to tell and could talk to anyone. The family wishes to extend a very special thank you to everyone at Provena Cor Mariae Center and Heartland Hospice for their wonderful and loving care. Also a thank you to Dr. Merat Esfahani and his staff at Swedish American Regional Cancer Center. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include sons Larry (Cindy) DiGvonni and Frank (Gail) DiGvonni; seven grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; brother Frank Jr., Freeport, Illinois; sister Janet Stringer, Winnebago, Illinois and numerous nieces and nephews. Lorin loved them all. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2011 in McCorkle Funeral Home, 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with Reverend Maureen, pastor of Heartland Hospice officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. to time of service at the funeral home Monday, January 3. \r\r\n\r\r\n In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the 4-H Foundation, Provena Cor Mariae Center or Heartland Hospice.
