Lorraine I. Severson, 91, Rockton, Illinois, died at 6:05 p.m., Thursday, July 4, 2013 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a lengthy illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born November 30, 1921 in Fedora, South Dakota, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas B. and Ella (Schramm) Clarke. Married Marion Severson in Pipestone, Minnesota on August 20, 1941. She was the owner of M & L Grocery from 1968 to 1993, then worked in the bakery department of Logli’s in Machesney Park. She was an election judge for years, retiring in 2010. Member of Secret Pal at Shirland United Methodist Church. Lorraine was a great basketball player. Graduated from Fedora High School. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to River Bluff Nursing Home staff and Rockford Memorial Hospital ICU staff for all their compassionate and tender loving care given to Mom. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include, daughters, Barb (Tom) George and Connie (John) Jersild, both of Roscoe, Illinois; sons, Tom (Ginger) Severson, Rockford, Illinois, Jerry (Cookie) Severson, Roscoe, Illinois and Gregg (Natalie) Severson, Rockton, Illinois; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren and sister-in-law, Pat Clarke, Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, Dennis Hall and seven brothers and sisters. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 8, 2013 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd, Rockton, Illinois with Chaplin Jerry DeMond, River Bluff Nursing Home officiating. Burial will be in Owen Township Cemetery, Rockford, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 -8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 7. \r\r\n\r\r\n A memorial has been established to River Bluff Nursing Home Activity Dept, 4401 N Main Street, Rockford, IL 61103.
