Lorraine Catherine Vormezeele, aged 86, of Durand, Illinois, passed away peacefully on May 21, 2023. Born on January 22, 1937, in Rockford, IL, Lorraine was a loving, dedicated, and humble woman who enjoyed a life filled with faith, family, and her cherished farm and land. A lifelong resident of Durand, Lorraine was a loyal and devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church and St. Anne's Sodality, where she was honored as Catholic Woman of the Year for her unwavering commitment and service.\n\nLorraine married her late husband, Robert Vormezeele, on September 20, 1958, and together they raised a beautiful family. A homemaker by trade, Lorraine was known for her exceptional sewing, cooking, and gardening skills. Her dedication to her family and community was evident in the countless hours she spent nurturing her loved ones and serving in various roles within her church and local organizations.\n\nLorraine is survived by her her children Jane (Richard) Poirier, Sarah (Dennis) Loofbourrow, Francis (Joni) Vormezeele, John (Chris)Vormezeele, and Beth (Mike) Kircher. Siblings Anne (Foster) Colby, Alice (Fred) Kraiss, Joan Didier, Julia Willkom, Sue Cocoma, Bill (Deni) Walsh, Bernie (Deb) Walsh, Tom (Julie) Walsh, Fran (Joe) McGinnis and Molly (Phil) Johnson; 17 Grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.\nShe was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Vormezeele; daughter Ellen Vormezeele, parents Keron and Anne Walsh; siblings David Walsh, Ed Walsh, and Rose Landers.\n\nA public visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, at 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at McCorkle Funeral Home-Durand Chapel 101 West Main Street, Durand, Illinois, 61024. Burial to be in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Durand, Illinois.
