Lucas V. “Luke” Lawrence, 39, of Durand, IL, died at 1:58 p.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family, Luke fought a hard fight with cancer.\r\n\r\nBorn November 10, 1977 in Rockford, IL the son of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas V. and Angela S. (Britton) Lawrence. He moved to Durand, IL from Rockford, IL. He graduated East High School in 1995. He was loved by all that knew him throughout his life. Luke was a man of God and had morals and wisdom. He believed in kindness and honesty. He loved nature and animals, he raised cattle for the last 12 years. He loved the outdoors, and riding his 4-wheeler. Luke wasn’t someone to just sit around, he was a man of words, and he wrote songs and poetry. He was a giving person, but would never ask anyone for anything. He was real down to earth, and could get along with anyone and everyone.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include his parents Doug and Sue, sister Tina (Chris) Lawrence, cousin Chelsea Castle who he called his little sister, nephews Austin Wilson (Abi), Alexander and Asa James Wilson, great niece Ana Wilson. He was preceded in death by his Grandmother Helen “Day Day” Turpin, grandfather Walter “D-Kenny” Britton, brother-in-law/friend Robert Wilson Jr., aunt Kim Britton, cousins Travis Castle, Sebastian ‘Subby” Britton and his best friend Angel Rubio. \r\n\r\nWe would like to Thank all his numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends for the special things, for the visits, and his sweet dog Libra. Special Thanks to his Aunt Penny, and Kristen and Tyson with Heartland Hospice.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 11, 2017 in McCorkle Funeral Home-Rockton Chapel, 767 N Blackhawk Blvd Rockton, IL with Pastor Dan Herman of Old Stone Church officiating. Burial will be in Durand Township Cemetery. Visitation will be held at McCorkle Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. to time of service.
