Lynn Nygren

–

Rockton, Illinois

Lynn Kay Nygren, 76, of Rockton, Illinois passed away peacefully at home on May 1st, 2024. Born on March 29, 1948, she was the only child of Bernard and Jenny (Lester) Cumber.

Lynn grew up in Machesney Park and attended Harlem schools. She married Robert N. Nygren in 1966 and together they shared two children, Natalie Nygren-Kearns (Anthony) and Matthew Nygren.

Lynn worked as a secretary and office support person for many years, including a stint at the Wagon Wheel Lodge in Rockton, IL. and the Goldie Floberg Center. Lynn and Robert eventually divorced but remained friends, keeping in touch and visiting regularly.

Lynn enjoyed traveling with her closest friend, Wendy Symons. In their travels, she and Wendy never met a rock they didn't like. Lynn also enjoyed antiquing and thrifting, gardening, crossword puzzles and a good cup of coffee or tea. She loved spending time with her family. Over the years, her home was filled with various pets and critters, both the traditional and the quirky, including but not limited to toads, snakes, a jar of bees and a duck.

She is survived by her daughter, her son, her favorite granddaughter Cassandra Johnson, her favorite grandson Dennis Johnson and her ex husband Robert Nygren. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents and numerous relatives and close friends.

The family would like to thank Beloit Hospice for their compassion and understanding, and their support as they walked this final journey with their Mom. You offered comfort, knowledge and humor and were such a blessing to us all. Thank you.

A Private Burial will take place in the Old Rockton Cemetery, Rockton IL.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Old Stone Church Food Pantry, 101 E Union St, Rockton, IL 61072 in her memory if desired.
