Marcella Mae Garner, 82, of Durand, IL died at 12:20 p.m., Sunday, July 15, 2018 in her home surrounded by her family.\r\n\r\nBorn November 23, 1935 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George and Ruth (Cornelius) Puddicombe. She graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1953. She married Franklin James Garner in Rockford, IL on April 2, 1955. She was employed by Nylint, Rockford Screw Products and Rockford Park District Trailside Centre for over 15 years. She attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Durand, IL. She was a member of Inner Se and a bowling league at Westmor Lanes. She was an avid horse and nature lover, reader of especially romance novels, playing cards at card club and watching her birds. \r\n\r\nSurvivors include her husband Franklin James Garner, Durand, IL; daughters Debbie (Rich) Petersen, Rockton, IL and Crystal Douglas, Rockford, IL; sons Jim (Heidi) Garner, Rockford, IL and Keith (Nikki) Garner, Winnebago, IL; foster daughter Barb Needs, Mendota, IL; son-in-law Bob Douglas; 12 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; brother Robert Puddicombe, Rockton, IL and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, one grandson Christopher Wolfe, granddaughter Gina Goebel and brother Harold Puddicombe.\r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, July 23, 2018 in McCorkle Funeral Home –Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL with Pastor Pat Esker of Trinity Lutheran Church, Durand, IL officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, Durand, IL. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 22.
