Martha J. Parsons, 70, Rockford, IL, formerly of Durand, IL died at 6:17 p.m., Wednesday, December 28, 2016 peacefully at home.\r\n\r\nBorn June 6, 1946 in Rockford, IL the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Truman and Neva (Waller) Sweet. Graduated from Durand High School, Class of 1964. Married Bill Parsons in Rockford, IL on November 14, 1964. She was employed by Woodward Governor for 20 years, retiring in 2002. She attended Indian Grove Country Church in Rock City, IL. She was an active quilter, providing many quilts for family and friends.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include her husband Bill Parsons; daughter Angela (Dave Travis) Knowlton; son Richard Parsons; grandchildren Mike Craglow and Michelle (Dan) Schrom; great grandson Michael; brother Don (Emily) Sweet; sisters Merry (Gary) Iverson and Meredith McKelvy; brothers Bill (Sue)Sweet and Tom Sweet and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Doug and son-in-law Dan Knowlton.\r\n\r\nA celebration of life will be held at Indian Grove Country Church, 6970 IL Route 75 East, Rock City, IL from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Thursday, January 5, 2017. Cremation rites will be accorded. Final resting place will be in Durand Township Cemetery.
