Mary Louise Gayton Greene Wegner, 96, of Lake Summerset, IL died at 4:20 a.m., Thursday, September 06, 2018 in Wood’s Crossing in Brodhead, WI.\r\n\r\nBorn September 14, 1921 in Rockton, IL, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles C. and Lila E. (Doherty) Gayton. Graduated from Hononegah High School, Class of 1939. She married Elmo H. Greene on May 4, 1940 in Rockton, IL and he preceded her in death in October 1983. She then married Marvin R. Wegner on September 21, 1985 in Durand, IL and he preceded her in death on November 16, 2009. She was a member of Durand United Methodist Church. Mary Louise loved people and music. She especially loved to dance, play the piano and the organ. She played for countless weddings, funerals and was the regular church organist for the Durand United Methodist Church and St. Mary Catholic Church for many years. She sang with a women’s barbershop quartet, various church choruses, enjoyed gardening and flowers. She taught piano lessons for over 68 years to countless students and families that spanned three generations. Her students were a constant source of joy and pride. She was a tender, loving mother and grandma. Her activities centered around her family, friends, church and her piano students. Mary Louise’s children would like to especially thank our families, many friends, caregivers, Wood’s Crossing staff and her dear Dr. Gold, personal physician, friend and encourager through the life events she encountered.\r\n\r\nSurvivors include daughter Jareth Berg, Rock City, IL; son Edmond (Sharon) Greene, Davis, IL; grandchildren Andrew Berg, Machesney Park, IL, Teresa (Kevin) Davies, Rockton, IL, Jon (Karen) Greene, Lake Geneva, WI and Beth, (James) Hinchee, Peoria, IL; six great grandchildren Carson (Kiza) Davies, Kyra (Kyle) Marshall, Colton Davies, Sean Hinchee, Niamh Hinchee and Caitlin Hinchee; five great great grandchildren; step son Dr. Curt (Diane) Wegner, Batavia, IL; three step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. \r\n\r\nFuneral ceremonies will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, September 13, 2018 in Durand United Methodist Church, 102 East Main Street, Durand, IL with Rev. Dr. Nicole Snyder officiating. Burial will be in Durand Township Cemetery, Durand, IL. A visitation will be held at the church from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, September 12, 2018. McCorkle Funeral Home- Durand Chapel, 101 W Main Street, Durand, IL assisted the family. \r\n\r\nIn lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established.
