Raymond Joseph “Joe” Froehlich, 74, Lake Summerset, Illinois, died Sunday, November 28, 2010 in Loyola Hospital, Maywood, Illinois after a long, hard fought battle with heart disease. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born September 28, 1936 in Urbana, Illinois the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raymond John and Zudora (Miller) Froehlich. He resided in the Rockford area most of his life. Married the former Loraine “Lori” Busker in Sierra Leone, West Africa on October 27, 1962. He was employed by the Massachusetts Audubon Society as an educational farm director before returning to the Rockford area where he worked for the Rockford Park District for 16 years as a recreational facilities manager. Served in the Peace Corps from 1961-1963. Joe was active in the Durand United Methodist Church, was a 50 year member of the Cherry Valley Masons Lodge #173 AF & AM and member of the Lake Summerset Fish Club. Graduated from Rockford East High School, Class of 1955 and the University of Illinois, Class of 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include wife Lori Froehlich, Lake Summerset, Illinois; son Pieter J. (Roberta Jo) Froehlich and their children Hunter Joseph and Tanner William all of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; daughter Kerry (Jeff) Mueller, Brodhead, Wisconsin; sister Rosalie (Wes) Boots, Uniontown, Pennsylvania; nephew Doren Michael; niece Krista Michael and close friends Jim and Linda France. He was preceded in death by his parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorial Ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, December 4, 2010 in Durand United Methodist Church, 102 East Main, Durand, Illinois with Reverend Brian Channel, pastor, officiating. Cremation rites will be accorded. McCorkle Funeral Home, 101 Main Street, Durand, Illinois assisted the family. \r\r\n\r\r\n In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established or you may give to a charity of your choice.
