Richard L. “Buzzo” Christen, 74, Pecatonica, Illinois died at 3:50 p.m., Saturday, December 5, 2009 in Rockford Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. \r\r\n\r\r\n Born August 6, 1935 in Pecatonica, Illinois, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry and Margaret (Nolan) Christen. Married Jacquelyn K. Baker in Rockford, Illinois on May 5, 1995. He was employed as a yard foreman for Pecatonica Lumber, Seward Lumber and retired from Top Notch Building Supply. He served in the US Air Force during peace time. Member of the Eugene Barloga American Legion Post # 197, where he served as a past post commander, was on the Pecatonica Parade committee for 35 years, North American Fisherman and was a former Little League coach. He was an avid Cubs and Bear fan and loved playing Euchre. \r\r\n\r\r\n Survivors include his wife, Jacquelyn Christen, Pecatonica, Illinois; daughter Brenda Christen, Baraboo, Wisconsin; son Darrin Christen, Janesville, Wisconsin; grandchildren Austin, Danielle, Jason and Melyssa; step children Beth Cronister, Pecatonica, Illinois, William Cronister, Tedra (David) Goff and Robert Cronister, all of Rockford, Illinois; sister Donna (Don) Mills, Pecatonica, Illinois; brother Wayne (Elaine) Christen, Assonet, Massachusetts and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. \r\r\n\r\r\n Funeral ceremonies will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, December 10, 2009 at McCorkle Funeral Home 203 W Fifth Street, Pecatonica, Illinois with the Reverend Amy Poust, pastor of Pecatonica United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Twelve Mile Grove Cemetery, Pecatonica, Illinois. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 9. \r\r\n\r\r\n Memorials have been established to Richard L. Christen.
